This website has been a labor of love… along with some blood, sweat and tears, not to mention lots of dollars and hours. After my father, Mel Loros, passed away I began to research his Glory Days of Racing at Bonneville and El Mirage in the late 50’s. Thanks to some old records, and great guys that were around during that time I began to piece together his story. Being a bit of an entrepreneur I realized there wasn’t a great one-stop shop to find photos, records and stories related to Land Speed Racing at both Bonneville and El Mirage. That has been the driving force behind the creation of Bonneville Virtual Museum.
I encourage all to share your stories, photos, and videos so we can all share in your experience now and for future generations. Tell me what you like, don’t like, or would like to see added to the site. If any of you have old photos, programs, etc. that you need to have scanned and digitized let me know. I’m in the Southern California area and am willing to travel to preserve your items. To ensure the continuity of the website we will be creating a non-profit in 2021, let us know if you are interested in serving on the board. Welcome one and all to your online Bonneville and El Mirage museum.
Regards, Museum Director
